An absolute favorite.

hear, hear!

Let's drink to a good summer 2k9-er.

pretending.

An interview I stole from The Sartorialist and made mine:

Best Sartorial advice from your parents?

"Do you like it...okay then, that's all that matters"

Style icons?
Mary-Kate, Iris Apfel, old dudes.

Describe your personal style...
Your grandmother on mars in grandpa's shirt.

I build my daily look around?
No basis. Don't think, just do. The best outfits come together that way.

Personal Style quirk?
Subtle add-ons and making what's his, mine.

Favorite designers?
Phillip Lim, Alexander Wang, Tracy Reese, Rag and Bone...

Most cherished item?
Everything my grandmother's given me, vintage wooden ring I seem to always lose, and a couple pairs of boots.

Never caught wearing?
A halter, Uggs (vom), flipflops, leg warmers, cargo pants.

Most underrated item in menswear/womenswear?
I think MW is really branching out for the better right now, and it seems like more and more dudes are getting the hang of it. As far as WW, I think maybe heels are being overlooked more now because of the explosion of flats over the past few seasons. It's time to get back to our roots ladies.

Dress to impress who?
Yourself.

Flats or heels?
I enjoy both, I just think heels are more stunning. Flats are too universal.

Favorite stores?
Barney's (when shopping during zzz's). I try not to stick to one place.

Your next "must have" purchase?
A fur collar! Oh, and a new hat. One that's like Mary Poppins meets Tiger Lilly. Keep an eye out.

I skimp when buying ...
Leggings.

I splurge on...
A great dress/pair of shoes. Or if I "JUST HAVE TO HAVE IT", which surprisingly doesn't happen too often.

Favorite item of clothing?
Currently: This seemingly futuristic black and white polka dot dress I got thrift. It reminds me of space.

Favorite fashion magazines?
Vogue and W. Nylon just isn't hittin it lately.

Favorite (style) books?
Apartamento, 70's sewing books, Ghost World

Favorite stylish movies?
Manhattan, Annie Hall, Catch Me If You Can, Vertigo, Amelie, Say Anything, Rushmore, Ocean's 11, Reality Bites. I'm sure I could think of more if I tried.

Favorite vacation spot?
I can't pick a favorite yet!

Favorite neighborhood restaurant?
Fresh to Order and Sri Thai.

the go-getter.

For a lazy spring Sunday.

newbs.

After a self-induced dose of Vogue overload this weekend, I realized why I was in the rut I was in.

Trends!!!

Bah, you little a-holes. Seriously, they're out to get you. Just when you think you've become immune to their tricks, you're out at AA buying a 30 dollar cicle scarf. Eh, yikes. Guilty as charged perhaps, but you gotta live to learn, man.

So, with that being said.
-Maybe don't revert back to '05 with all of this bo-ho hippie shitake they're TRYING to bring back.
-Maybe don't mistake trends for classics (i.e. bandit scarves).
-Maybe don't make rules.

Yea, don't. Despite the fact that I'm continuing to contradict myself, I stand by the fact that rules are ballsack. The whole "self-aware" category in style is sort of losing its meaning, isn't it?

You have to be aware of everything around you. It's the whole inspiration aspect of your surroundings. Like the dull color of an old Cadillac, or the way your tinted shades make everything look expired, or how your lace-up's make you feel like you're in the 70's, or your grandmother's mauve appliances, or the old man who jogs his dog every morning, or how an old couch cushion cringes when you take a seat, or Diane Keaton.

You sort of have to be self-aware to notice how the little things divert all of those BIG things.

Learn to disregard that even though Fendi's new shiz is actually better than Lagerfeld's influence on this season's Chanel, that they still don't ooze all of the character of the old man and his faded orange and mustard tweeds that barely reach his ankles.

Right?
Atleast that's how I get dressed in the morning.

Wink.

indian give.

Succumbing to overt communication virtually.

That's the reality of the times, so here I am--virtually. An attempt to persuade, but most (and more) importantly motivate you lads and lasses to divert your virtual time to a more creative DIY time.

Specifics will come later.

If your insides make soup over zines/projects/free reading material/etc., I may have something for you. Make ya poop fairies with innumberable grants.
