zombie.

It's funny how you can go back to a place you were 5 months ago with a new haircut and a blue suede shoes mood and feel like you can smell the book you were reading in that exact location back in September. Then it's all like that, "wait, what?" moment and you're not even thinking about where you're about to go eat anymore. You're thinking about how somehow you're feeling like you did circa "Last-Time-You-Parked-Here" when you finished that somber smelling book because he gave it to you and your outlook was biased. But now the book is just sub-par, and shoot Sherlock, I shoulda just stuck to my guns. In September.

Only thing is, it was darker then, because you know, the whole orbit change with the seasons and the moon and what not. Oh. Right. Nostallllllgia. Got it.

It's much brighter now and hey this ain't just for me, it's for you too. Even you.
p.s. I'm torturing myself with these new 60's floral shorts because I bought them without a companion and I just want to put them on already.

avalanches.

listen to read.

i walked around the block today
waved at the branches lyin in the hay
there's charlie!
hey!
"birdie, birdie-birdie, i wish i was with you"

slow walkin to slow walkin.
tripped on a piece of cement
thought about her and then you
and then i was like it's such a beautiful day
and all this walking is kind of a cool way to get around

"wake up sleepy tree!"
nodded to the police officer
told em to 'stay breezy, ya big ol happy bee.'
nah i didn't
i thought about it though

woo, it's stagnant out here
and my salad's gettin moist
passed a cute boy
then a weird boy
then one that i didn't think much of

squished a spider
thought of sevigny
opened the door
went up the stairs
startled an old man
put in my code
found this picture

crush.

Excerpt from a glasses glasses interview with Chris Taylor.

GG: You also produce much of the music for the band as well as several other side projects. How did you start getting more involved in this aspect of the industry?

"...I like to think about production, in a way, like a really well done movie. All the colors, all the different things in the scene—the hair comb and the perfume, and then the girl’s dress, where her hair is—then like the color balance and all the things in the room have a really strong sort of place. I like to do that as much as possible with production—really grab people’s heads and put it in another spot, you know? –Outside of just a song that rolls by. Maybe it’s more demanding or less approachable, but I try and make it so you can’t really look away."

here.

p.s. If you don't get a chance to read the entire thing (although a delightful read), atleast check out his new record label, Terrible Records. The first two releases are Arthur Russell singles and his solo stuff. Swoon.

balenciaga.

Completely mastered that whole, I'm branching out, but I don't want anyone to catch on so I'll be sutble as hades and pair everything with heels and frills so as to induce a lot of positive "I couldn't pull that off" up-down looks, while still looking like I dumpster dove in Audrey Hepburn's "over it" pile.

CFDA awards.

One day I'll go to one of these. Most likely would've peed my Acne's because almost all of my favorites won:
All pictures courtesy of style.com.
Although in an achingly classic ensemble I feel as though Jeff Halmos has been peering into my brain. Hmm.

My numero uno Phillip Lim of 3.1 Phillip Lim with some model (Georgie Badiel) that needs to be me, in his clothing. Swooning over his pants.

Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra of Costello Tagliapietra.

My favorite of the Willis' girls. The youngest, yet the one who's most fashion forward. Also could be because she's the most model looking of the three. Anyway, here's Tallulah Belle in Calvin Klein Collection.

Gorgie Ashley Olsen in a coral vintage piece. Gimme!

Long, long, longtime love of mine Anna Sui deservedly took home the "Lifetime Achievement Award". I can actually remember stumbling upon her at Saks circa like '99 while watching my mom aimlessly browse and just being like THIS KIND OF STUFF EXISTS?? Good for you, Anna.

Seriously Band of Outsiders is my favorite collection this year. I've been meaning to do a write-up on the collection for awhile now, but I think most fashion blogs have handled that for me. It's just everything we need right now. So, bravo! Scott Sternerg for winning "Menswear Designer of the Year", but duhhh.

One of my favorites, Alexander Wang won the "Swarovski Award for Womenswear " and Dree Hemingway wore one of his cut-out designs.

The girls of, in my opinion, the most innovative relatively newb label Rodarte won "Womenswear Designers of the Year", and had cute Kirsten Dunst prance around in one of their pieces.

I suppose that's enough, but a huge silent applause and invisible tear to everyone. I think it's been one of the most influential times in (my) history for fashion and I'm happy that I can pretend to be apart of it.
Here's to the Christian Joy's and the Ilana Bronstein's (and of course Christian Joy and Ilana Bronstein themselves) of next years awards!

penny pinchin.

Excuse my lead foot lately, I'm back (for now) with information:

------------
Estelle Hanania She has a real creepy sense of reality. I like creepy.
---------------
Also
Miranda just got done with her exhibit, "Eleven Heavy Things" in Venice! I emailed her secretary to see if it'd still be up by the time I get there. Better be.

Anyway, this is a video of one of her most recent exhibitions, "The Hallway". I sort of hate posting it because I feel like at some point I would've done something eerily similar and now it will seem like I'm a copy-cat.
------------------
As far as Paige news goes, I've decided that I'm going to turn
MITNB into more than solely a "fashion" blog. I mean there's more to me than just that. So I figure why not put it all in one place instead of dispersing myself between several other sites. So with that said, from here on out all of my projects will be here, and it's only fair to say that in everything I post, 9 times out of 10 it will be completely influenced by style.

Let's find another word for style.

dear diary.

april 6, 1976
dear diary,
i was bein' finicky with claud today. i'm just fed up with flyin' kites and tv dinner nights. so today we got dressed up real sharp and nice to see sinclair wale on his guitar. i couldn't keep from whistlin' his tunes.

as we went out the door, claud realized that not only did he leave his keys in the house, but that we were in fact locked out. i cursed a little, put a hand to my forehead, and told him not to speak. i said, "i just want my picture taken on my 'happy night on the town', claud", so we asked the paper boy.
love,
eleanor

This is a project I'm working on called "dear diary" (the name is still tentative) and sooner than later I'm going to have audio to go along with it. So I guess this is just me committing to the project by posting that I'm starting one.

Sometimes you realize that the impressive people's standards are seemingly lower than your own.
And then you remember that time you saw Mary-Kate in a pair of black flip flops and you think, "Or maybe I just forgot."

Pretty ready for ripped jeans to go back to the grave:

Makes everything you're wearing look like you're trying too hard to get a lookbook invitation. Plus isn't it a little too early to bring back trends circa 2002?
Ahem.
